My grandparents arrived on Tuesday evening to help us celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday! HG & I both had to work on Wednesday so my grandparents had to keep themselves entertained, but with a good book and our comfy couch they were all set. Wednesday evening we enjoyed dinner at Texas Land & Cattle and then relaxed on the couch with a night of great television. . .we all LOVE Criminal Minds.
Thursday morning it was time to test out the kitchen. I haven't really spent any time in the kitchen yet, but after today I know my kitchen well! I baked a few pies that morning (after cooking breakfast). HG doesn't know what to do with all these home-cooked meals! After a little cleaning and relaxing it was time to start the Thanksgiving feast. Grandpa & HG were in charge of deep-frying the turkey. . .the only way to do it! Nana & I did the rest. We had way too much food for just 4 people, but we couldn't skip out on any of the traditional dishes.
We even had our first meal in the dining room. I know you guys are going to get tired of all my "firsts", but I'm still giddy about the new house! :-) The table was beautiful as we had received 2 centerpieces to help us celebrate our 1st Thanksgiving in our new home. Harold's mom and Aunt Patty both sent us beautiful arrangements. It was so fun to come home from work and find two surprises waiting on me!
So now we're just hanging out, relaxing, watching some football (boring!), and in my case waiting for Grey's Anatomy to come on!
I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am one lucky girl to be blessed with such an amazing husband, wonderful family members, and the best friends a girl could ask for. I am very thankful for the wonderful life I've been blessed with and thankful that each of you are a part of it!
