I LOVE TRE WILCOX!!!!!!

Okay, okay. . .I know he's a married man and I'm a married woman, but can't a girl have a celebrity crush??? And if you don't consider Tre to be a celebrity then a foodie you're not! :-) I became obsessed with Top Chef when they were showing reruns of Season 1 & 2. LOVE that show!! So I was so excited for a new season to start (last year) and I always love rooting for "Dallas peeps" and was so excited to see two Dallas chefs. . .Tre Wilcox and Casey Thompson. I have to admit that I enjoyed dining at great restaurants before my obsession with Top Chef, but now I'm working my way towards claiming the title of a FOODIE!! I get so excited watching them create amazing dishes, I've become a total food snob, and now enjoy dishes like Kobe Beef Carpaccio. . .who knew that would ever happen???!!! I really want to take a knife class so I can have "skills" like Tre & Casey.

So anyway, few weeks (maybe months ago) I was reading an email from the Junior League announcing this event. Tickets were on sale and sure to sell out fast. I dial Courtney's number as fast as I can and get no answer, I text her. . .still no answer so I take matters into my own hands and buy her a ticket because I know she'll be salivating like I was as soon as she hears!! HG being the supportive husband he is didn't quite understand why I was dancing around my office when I was actually able to buy the tickets or why I was stalking CT, but he knew I loved Top Chef and just said HAVE FUN!!

I finally reach Courtney and finally have someone to share in my excitement. I think we were both screaming on the phone like we did back in the day when New Kids on the Block came to town. Don't pretend like you didn't scream for them when you were in middle school!!!

So tonight was the big night. I really thought we'd be sitting in rows upon rows and I would maybe be lucky to get a picture with Tre. We took CT to Abacus (the restaurant where Tre used to be a chef) for her birthday and of course didn't have a Tre sighting. . .we were so bummed.

This event was fabulous. All the other chefs prepared their dishes in a room in the back that had a big window so you could watch them. They also taped it so you could watch it on the various tvs throughout the facility. Not Tre, he was front and center and had his own station. We got there early, saw his name posted for that area, and staked our claim. Seriously, we even got a little territorial and didn't want anyone closing in. We had the BEST seats in the house. We were immediately to Tre's left throughout the entire evening. He chatted with us while he was preparing his dish (yes, he talked to other people too, but he liked us best. . .he said so!). He is so sweet, so much fun, and he really enjoys what he's doing and wants the audience to enjoy it and to learn in the process.

We didn't realize he was paying attention in the beginning, we assumed he'd be totally focused on his dish, but he made a comment that he might not say much, but he's definitely listening. From then on out, we weren't afraid to talk to him or about him (in his presence of course!!)

I wish I could describe how much fun I had tonight. I really can't even put it into words. Courtney & I made two new friends tonight (Brittany & Sarah). We exchanged business cards and definitely plan on keeping in touch with these girls. . .we all had a fabulous time!

At the end of the cooking period, each of the chefs brought their dishes to the front (again, where we were) so we finally got an opportunity to meet Casey and get pictures with her as well. She is so sweet and her dishes looked fabulous too. . .really wish we could've tried the dishes!

It's been 2 hours since the event and I'm still beaming ear to ear. . .what a FABULOUS night!!!

YOU COULDA CALLED A SISTA.....

I have a huge freaking crush on Tre! I even saw him in the elevator of the gym during lunch one day and was like, "Do I know you? You look familiar"? And he said something like nah, and then I kept looking and then I was like, "Are you Tre..."? And he smiled and then I giggled, and said something stupid about how he should have won, and then the elevator stopped at my floor. Then he reached out and grabbed my hand. It was all horribly fantastic.

Then I went back to work and asked everyone if they watched Top Chef and everyone said no, and I couldn't share with anyone the special moment I had just minutes before. So sad. :-(
