Restaurant Week!!
I LOVE the month of August just for Restaurant Week! It's been an annual tradition for several years now and one I look forward to!
Amanda started the tradition and as my taste buds grew so did my # of visits during Restaurant Week. I generally try to get in 3 restaurants during Restaurant Week. One with Amanda and the gang, one with CT/Erin & gang, and then one with my hubby!
Thankfully as my interest has grown so has Restaurant Week and it's now 3 weeks in August so I don't have to stuff my face all in one week.
For those that aren't familiar with Restaurant Week here's the scoop:
Select from any of the 118 restaurants and enjoy a fabulous three-course dinner for just $35 per person, excluding beverage, tax and gratuity. For each prix fixe dinner purchased, participating restaurants will make a $7 donation to the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas and Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth to benefit families in need.
So basically, I get FABULOUS food at a discount and I'm helping a charity...who wouldn't want to do that??!!
Last year, we (CT, Erin, Monique & I) went to 2900 and it was delicious. Courtney really wanted to go to Bijoux, but we couldn't get in and since last year the girl has been dying to go. So this year the moment I saw the info about Restaurant Week, I booked us a reservation! Monique wasn't able to join us this year as she was about to give birth (literally Sydney was born the next day), but Kate & Jenn were able to join us for a night of amazing food!!!
Not only was the food AMAZING, but the service was outstanding!!! Truly a wonderful experience!
We were first treated to an amuse bouche (compliments of the chef) which was actually quite tasty. Then I had the pork belly. I've been dying to try pork belly since it's always mentioned on Top Chef. Which is really good!! Next was the truffle risotto. Courtney got the salmon with polenta so we split our entrees which was perfect! The risotto was yummy and very rich so it was nice to pair it with the salmon...YUM, YUM!!! Next was a little blueberry sorbet to cleanse the palate. Dessert was an almond panna cotta...very yummy, but I have to admit the panna cotta of Chef Tre's that I had earlier this year is by far the best panna cotta I've ever had! To finish the night, the chef once again sent out complimentary treats. They were miniature desserts (basically bite size)...chocolate, cookies, etc. We were so full and enjoyed every minute of it!!!! Dinner was a little over 2.5 hours...it didn't feel like we'd been there for that long!!!
Next up was supposed to be Bolla on Thursday with the Amanda crew, but due to work I had to miss that one. I can't wait to hear what they thought. Then at the end of the month, HG & I are going to Randy's Steakhouse to kick off our vacation!!!
