Yea!!! It's finally done (see pics below). I'm so excited for it to be done and to have one less thing on my to-do list.
I think I'll probably enjoy it more in these final weeks as I just sit in there and think about what's ahead...I really can't even begin to imagine. Plus, I need to spend more time reading to them. I'm an AVID reader and hope the kiddos will be too...I figure it doesn't hurt to start early! ;-)
It was definitely more difficult than I thought to find something that would work for both of them, but in the end I'm very pleased with the finished product. I love the sage green and think it's so calm and inviting. Thank goodness for Courtney's creativity as the wall plaques really make the room and add the color that's so desperately needed! I had fun painting the polka dots on the lamp shade, but realized that I am no artist. Definitely don't inspect the lamp shade when you come for a visit!
I absolutely ADORE the "g" pillow in the glider. My new friend Shannon (Dandy Lion Designs) created it for me in basically a day. The girl has mad skills! She embroids children's clothing and other goodies and she seems pretty crafty so I just emailed her to see if she could make a pillow. I sent her pics of what had been done in the nursery so far, told her the color scheme, and that I really wanted different fabric besides polka dots/stripes...viola she creates an amazing pillow! I totally trusted her to pick out whatever she wanted and the finished product was a complete surprise. She even sewed it together while her sweet daughter was napping in her lap...oh, to have an ounce of her creativity!
The rugs and the pink polka dot wall art caused me a little stress, but it all worked out! I found the rugs online (couldn't order them from the same store). The pink one was from Target and arrived in like 2 days. The blue one took me ordering it 3 times from 3 different places to finally get it. I finally found a new one on ebay and was able to actually get it without receiving the "sorry this item has been discontinued" email. The polka dot wall art started as a blank space that I thought we had found the perfect solution for, but I should've known since we found it early and so easily. I saw a cute set of circular mirrors at Target and thought we could put them there in a fun pattern. Nope, it looked ridiculous. So then I dragged Courtney to Hobby Lobby to help me come up with something crafty and we decided on a styrofoam piece covered in a fun fabric that I could eventually use to put pics on (like a memo board). The search for just the right fabric was SO FRUSTRATING!!!! Then I thought Shannon came to my rescue with leftover fabric from the pillow, but that didn't work either. So back to the drawing board I went. I decided that surely I could paint circles on a piece of canvas. Well, I did it, but it took MUCH longer than I thought and once again don't look too closely!!!!
So that's it...we're done and just counting down the days. I'm sure these next 10 weeks will just fly by!
