White Christmas!
Merry Christmas!! Like I said, Operation Christmas was in full force. Frankie & I (mostly Frankie) spent the morning cooking so we could still have a Christmas feast! Around lunch time we took a turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, rolls, 4 layer chocolate dessert, pound cake (YUM!), cupcakes, and a few other goodies! We had way too much food, but I think that's standard at every holiday.
The nurses have been so great that we invited them to take part in the celebration. They waited until after we ate and they knew we still had plenty of food before finally digging in.
After stuffing ourselves we spent time with Aidan and then later in the afternoon we opened gifts. It was so much fun to see all the cute stuff Aidan got!
Well, we're finally geting somewhere with his diagnosis. It turns out he has viral meningitis, herpes class 1 (like cold sores in adults), and a staph infection. . .could the poor guy get anything else?! The great news is he's acting like a normal baby. He's eating and sleeping on a schedule. He doesn't look sick and he's actually quite strong. He lifts his head up all the time and fights like mad when they want to stick him. The nurses actually said that's a great sign because usually sick babies are so lethargic they don't care if they are getting poked with needles. . .not Aidan!! Initially they thought he would be there for 21 days and then they lowered it to 14, but now they are saying 21 again because they want to make sure they've gotten rid of all the infections.
Alex & Dana have a long road ahead of them, but I am confident that Aidan is going to be just fine. He's getting the attention he needs, plenty of rest, and lots of love and support.
